Information on registering a trademark with the French INPI
The INPI is the National Institute for Industrial Property in France. It is an institute placed under the control of the secretary of state with liaison between the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Finance and Industry. The institute has among others, the role to elaborate the laws on industrial property, to provide information in the domain of industrial property and deliver official documentation covering industrial property.
A trademarks principal function is to determine a link between a given product and indicated name. Without protecting your mark you give anyone the possibility to use it, which can cause a serious handicap in both your commercial and industrial strategy.
