Is it possible to register my domain name directly with the relevant authorities ? If NetMarque registers my Internet name will I be the correct owner ? I would like to register my Internet name with a '.org' extension, is this possible ?
Theoretically yes. This would mean however that you would need to have two computers connected to the Internet which act as DNS (Domain Name Servers) for your name. This is why the majority of Internet names are registered through specialist companies or through resellers as in the case of our company. It should be noted that the French association responsible for Internet names (AFNIC) will not accept direct registrations without signing up as an association member.
