Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Internet name extensions '.fr', '.com' etc. ?
These extensions give an indication of the company who uses the name. In effect, '.fr' indicates that company is situated in France, as '.es' indicates a company in Spain. The registration of an Internet name as a '.fr' is controlled by the AFNIC (French Co-operative Association for Internet Names). The extensions '.com' indicate 'commercial', '.org' as 'organisation, non profit' and '.net' as network and are controlled by the InterNIC in the USA. Where possible, it is recommended that our clients register both the international '.com' and '.fr' names to protect there usage in the future. Full registration information is available here.
